243 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND HVIDSTEN, Per Per was born in Porsgrunn, Norway on April 29, 1912. He was serving in Norway’s Neutrality Guard when Germany invaded his country in 1940. Along with many of his countrymen, Per escaped into Sweden, then made his way through Russia and Europe before arriving at Port Said, Sudan. He then boarded a ship and sailed around the Cape of Africa to New York before going to Toronto. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on May 1, 1941. He served as Wing Sergeant, instructing young men to fly in Link Trainers at Little Norway from the time he arrived in September 1941 until he was transferred to England in February 1945. He was discharged from the Air Force on January 17, 1946. He was a member of Uxbridge Legion Branch 170 from 1953 until his death. Per passed away on May 26, 1985. INGHAM, Thomas Thomas was born in Staffordshire, England on June 23, 1887. He enlisted in the Army on September 3, 1914. He served with the 10th Battery in France and Germany during World War I. He was wounded and gassed during his service. He was discharged in August 1919. Thomas passed away on February 15, 1966. INGHAM, Don Don was born on November 21, 1933 in St. Catharines, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army in 1952. He served in the Royal Light Infantry in Hanover, Germany. He was discharged in 1954.
