241 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND HUSSELSTROM, Florence Thelma Florence was born on January 17, 1920 in Orillia, Ontario. She enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy in April 1943. She served with the Royal Canadian Navy Women’s Corps during World War II. She was discharged in December 1945. After the war, she returned to Toronto and studied to be a bookkeeper. She was a bookkeeper for Stocks and Bonds until her retirement in 1982. She was a member of Harry Wray Legion Branch 302. Florence passed away on November 25, 2012. HUTTON, James L. James was born on September 28, 1922 in Walkerton, ON. He enlisted in the Army in September 1939. He served with the 5th Army Field Brigade and the 100th Field Battery in England, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany during World War II. He was discharged in 1946. After his discharge, Jim returned home to Walkerton and in 1953 moved to farm near Tiverton, ON with his wife Irene and their two boys. Jim and Irene had three more children. He also worked for a number of years at Ontario Hydro, at the Bruce Nuclear Station near Tiverton. He also volunteered in several capacities in the area. He was a member of Ferris Legion Branch 430 and Kincardine Legion Branch 183 for a total of 28 years. James passed away on January 31, 2010. HUTTON, Edward L. Edward was born on March 4, 1926 in Toronto, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army in 1944 and served with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals. Two years later, he re-mustered to the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve and after basic training joined the ship’s company of HMCS Mont Joli, an examination vessel based in Halifax Harbour. He was discharged in 1946. After the war, he was employed with Bell Telephone Company where he became a Manager. Edward has been a member of Richmond Hill Legion Branch 375 for 2 years.
