229 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND HOFFMAN, Wesley “Wes” Wes was born on September 21, 1932 in York, Toronto. He enlisted in the Army and served with the Royal Canadian Regiment, 1st Battalion during the Korean War. In his basic training he completed the required number of jumps to become a paratrooper. When he was shipped out to Korea, he was immediately converted to Infantryman. Wes has been a member of Harry Wray Legion Branch 302 for 35 years and served as Branch President on a number of occasions. HOLMES, Jasper J. Jasper was born in Beachwood, NB on September 3, 1921. He enlisted in the Canadian Army on April 9, 1942. After his initial training he was assigned to No 26 Company of the Canadian Forestry Corps as an Edgerman B Class. His job was to cut down trees and turn them into logs for the building of bridges. He eventually went overseas and served in Scotland, England, and Germany during World War II. While serving in Germany, he was shot and injured. He was discharged on March 18, 1946. His medals include the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, and the General Service Class Badge. Jasper passed away on March 29, 2011. HOLDEN, Harry Harry was born in Sheffield, England on February 10, 1914. He immigrated to Canada when he was eight years old as a Bernardo Boy. He enlisted in the Army on September 30, 1943. He served with the 7th Medical Regiment, Army Service corps during World War II. He drove a truck with supplies for the troops. He was discharged on April 18, 1946. Harry was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, and a King George VI Medal. After the war, he went to work at the Hagersville Army Camp. He was a member of Waterford Legion Branch 123. Harry passed away on December 22, 1970.
