227 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND HILTS, Robert L. Robert was born on October 4, 1918. He served in the Army, but never got to go overseas. He was a member of Coe Hill Legion Branch 581. Robert passed away on October 27, 2008. HODGSON, Arthur G. Arthur “Art” was born in McGillivray Twp, Ontario on 29 November 1916. He enlisted in the Canadian Army at Wolseley Barracks London Ontario in 1940 as an Infantryman. After completing his basic and trade training he was posted to Camp Borden. Art’s voice was very unique which eventually landed him the position of Drill Sergeant at Camp Borden. He also served overseas in England and the Netherlands. He loved the Dutch people and was amazed how a dirt farmer was treated like a King in Holland. His medals include Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp and the War Medal 1939-45. Art was honourably discharged in 1945 at the rank of Corporal. He passed away 23 November 1999 at the age of 83. Art was a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion and a Meritorious Service Medal recipient. HOBBS, William Ebert William was born on June 23, 1924 in Ashton, Ontario. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943. He served with the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1943-1946 and the Royal Canadian Chaplain Service from 1953-1956. He served with the Sherbrooke Regiment from 1947-1951, the 30th Field Regiment from 1956-1960, and the Queen’s Own Rangers from 1962-1966. William has been a member of Fort York Legion Branch 165 for 25 years.
