215 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND HATTEN, Wallace Kingston Wallace was born on July 28, 1921 in Bentinck Township, ON. He enlisted in the Army on December 4, 1944. He served with the Canadian Armoured Corps before transferring to the Canadian Infantry Corps. He was discharged on March 22, 1946. After returning home, Wallace married his sweetheart, Mary Livingstone, on June 14, 1946. He purchased a farm in Bentinck Township through the Veteran’s Land Act where he and Mary farmed and raised their three daughters. Wallace passed away on January 2, 1993. HATTON, George F. George was born in England in September 1898. He enlisted in the Imperial Army on September 16, 1914. He was wounded on July 7, 1918 while with the East Lancashire Regiment at Dieppe Forest in France and spent six months in hospital before transferring back to England. After he was discharged in December 1918, he married Edith Haworth and left for Canada. They moved to Welland, ON where they raised four sons and four daughters. He worked for eight years at the pipe mill then joined the Welland Police Force, retiring in 1954. He was a member of Rose City Legion Branch 4 for 60 years and was President in 1948. George passed away in September 1977. HATTON, Frank Frank was born in Toronto, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1937. He served as Wing Commander with No. 409 Squadron and served with No. 445 Squadron in England during World War II. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. From March 12, 1945 to July 1st he was Wing Commander of 409 Squadron. After the war, he was Wing Commander for the Golden Hawks. He was discharged in 1965 and moved to Blenheim and worked at the Southwestern Regional Centre until 1977. Frank passed away on March 14, 2008.
