205 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND GUILLEMETTE, Florian J. Florian was born in St. Camille, QC on December 26, 1925. He enlisted in the Army in September 1943. He served with the 48th Highlanders of Canada during World War II. Private Guillemette was a dispatch rider, using motorcycles for the job. He was wounded performing his duties and could not be sent overseas. He was discharged in September 1945. Florian has been a member of Kapuskasing Legion Branch 85 for 14 years. HACHEY, Louis J. Louis was born in Hacheyville, NB on August 9, 1923. He enlisted in the Army in May 1941. He served with the Royal Canadian Engineers and the North Shore Regiment in Canada, the United Kingdom and France during World War II. Sapper Hachey was discharged in September 1945. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. After the war, he hitchhiked from NB to Kapuskasing, ON and met a war-time friend who hired him to work at a local paper company. Louis is retired and living in Moonbeam, ON. Louis has been a member of Kapuskasing Legion Branch 85 for 44 years. GULKO, Norman Norman was born on March 4, 1923 in Toronto, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army in December 1942. He served with the Loyal Edmonton Regiment in Canada, Italy and North Western Europe during World War II. He was in a combined operation with heavy artillery, tanks and infantry crossing the Ekel River in a land water vehicle. Norman was discharged in June 1946.
