347 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND SMITH, Ross B. Ross was born on March 10, 1906 in Oil Springs, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army in 1941 and served with the 4th Canadian Infantry Brigade, Essex Scottish Regiment in Holland and Belgium and with Dispatch Operations in France during World War II. After his discharge in 1946, he worked with Sifto Salt in Sarnia until his retirement. He married Hilda and had two children. He was a Life Member of Paterson Memorial Church. Ross passed away on December 3, 1991. SMITH, Stanley L. Stanley was born on October 12, 1920 in Oshawa, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army in 1944 and served with the Royal Canadian Artillery during World War II. He was a member of Oshawa Legion Branch 43 and Mattawa Legion Branch 254 for 30 years. Stanley passed away on January 2, 2001. SMITH, Samuel Priestly Samuel was born on March 12, 1888 in Hull, England. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on January 31, 1916 and served with the Canadian Expeditionary Force, 111th Battalion, 4th Pioneer Battalion, Western Ontario Regimental Depot and the Canadian Forestry Corps. He saw action in Britain and France during World War I. Private Smith was discharged on March 22, 1919 and was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal. After the war, he worked as a tool and die maker and spent the major part of his life in the Galt where he and his wife Grace raised two daughters. Samuel passed away on May 16, 1968.
