345 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND SMITH, Neil Neil was born on April 18, 1892 in Singhampton, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army in January 1915 and served with the 50th Battalion in England and France during World War II. Neil was wounded in France in 1916 and was killed in action at the Battle of Amiens, France on August 10, 1918. SMITH, Norman S. Norman was born on June 4, 1923 in Strathroy, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on July 28, 1941 and served with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps during World War II. Private Smith was discharged on December 4, 1945 and enlisted again on September 9, 1954. Norman served with the Royal Canadian Ordinance Corps from September 9, 1954 to November 30, 1973 when he was discharged at the rank of Warrant Officer. He saw active duty in England, France, Holland, Germany and Egypt. His awards include the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defense Medal, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. Normandy also presented him with the Normandy Campaign Medal and the Liberators Medal. He was a Life Member of Sir Arthur Currie Legion Branch 116 and held numerous Chairman Positions including President. Norman passed away on April 4, 2010 at the age of 86. SMITH, Norman H. Norman was born on November 12, 1923 in Toronto, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1942 and served in England during World War II. Norman was discharged in 1946 and was awarded the France and Germany Star, the Defense Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the 1939-45 War Medal, the 1939-45 Star and the Bomber Command Bar.
