She enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on April 30, 1943 and served with the Canadian Women’s Service Corps during World War II. Lance Corporal Siple was trained in Kitchener, ON and spent her entire career as a clerk in the Quarter Masters Stores. She met her future husband there, when he signed out material. Jeannette has been a member of Kapuskasing Legion Branch 85 for 6 years. SLACK, Lloyd J. Lloyd was born in Nova Scotia on August 2, 1921. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army in April 1942 and served with the 17th Duke of York Royal Canadian Hussars during World War II. He was discharged in August 1946. His awards include the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the Defense Medal. Lloyd passed away on June 20, 2012. SIPLE, Michael H. Michael was born on November 21, 1922 in Selkirk, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army in September 1940. He served with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders during World War II. He attained the rank of Corporal with the Provost Corps and served in Jamaica as a prisoner of war guard. Michael was also involved with providing security for a new discovery that turned out to be the radar. During his time in the Army, he met his wife Jeanette, who was in the Army serving at the Quarter Masters Stores in Downsview, ON. He was discharged in July 1946 and was awarded the Defense Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the General Service Medal. He was a member of Kapuskasing Legion Branch 85 for 25 years. Michael passed away on September 27, 2006.
