329 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND RUSS, Jerrold W. Jerrold was born on September 14, 1924 in Thessalon, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on September 14, 1942 and served with the Canadian Army Corps during World War II. After his discharge on January 20, 1943, he went on to work at Algoma Steel in Sault Ste. Marie, ON before working for Algoma Ore Division as a welder. He received the Meritorious Service Award in 1984. Jerrold passed away on January 15, 2011. SANDERSON, Arthur T. Arthur was born on November 17, 1917 in Chesley, ON to Stanley Sanderson and Nellie Campbell. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy in April 1943 and trained at HMCS Cornwallis, Port Royal, NS. He was then posted to HMCS Stadacona at the weapons armaments depot in Dartmouth, NS. Sub-Lieutenant Sanderson was discharged in 1946 and went on to become a supervisor of tool and die work on the Avro Arrow and when it was cancelled he was one of the last workers to go. After his time with Avro Arrow, he became Chief Safety Inspector at General Motors of Canada in Oshawa, ON. Arthur passed away on March 6, 1998. SAMARELLI, Lawrence J. Lawrence was born on June 2, 1923 in Ottawa, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army in 1941 and served with the Lincoln and Welland Regiment in England and Holland during World War II. After he was discharged in 1945, Lawrence went on to work for Toronto Hydro. He married Shirley and had two children. He was a member of Orillia Legion Branch 34. Lawrence passed away on April 3, 2008.
