He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on March 2, 1945 and was ready to go overseas but he did not have to as the war came to an end. He was discharged on March 2, 1946. In his later years , he was a licensed plumber and a cement floor finisher. Roy has been a member of Beaver Valley Legion Branch 281 for 29 years. PIETRASZKO, Walter A. Walter was born on October 31, 1926 in Kitchener, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on November 3, 1944 and served with the Royal Canadian Infantry Corps. By the time he finished training, the war in Europe was winding down and Walter was selected for training to go to the Pacific Theatre but the war came to a successful conclusion before he was shipped off. He was discharged on October 20, 1945 and spent much of his working life was spent at two car dealerships in Kitchener, ON, Orr Auto and Stedelbauer Chevrolet Inc. He married Isabel in 1948 and had two sons. He was a member of Fred Gies Legion Branch 50 for 40 years. Walter passed away on May 20, 2013. PICKERING, John Robert John was born on February 17, 1924 in Leamington, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy on April 8, 1942 and served in the North Atlantic during World War II. He was discharged on November 14, 1954. John has been a member of Lieutenant Colonel W. Ivan Nurse Legion Branch 628 for 48 years.
