299 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND PEEBLES, Clifford W. Clifford was born on March 10, 1939 in Cobourg, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army in 1956 and served with the 33rd Medical Regiment until 1958. Two years later, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and served with Squadron No. 405 and No. 415 from 1960 and 1970. Clifford also served as No. 6 Management Study Unit and Operational Flight as a tactical trainer. After his military service, he worked for C.P. Rail in the industrial engineering department and retired as manager of operations improvement in the mechanical department. Clifford has been a member of Charles Rutherford Legion Branch 187. PERREAULT, Joffery O. M. “Jack” Joffery was born in Quebec. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served as a dispatch rider during World War II. A jeep ran into him in the dark as they couldn’t have lights on due to safety reasons. The lower part of his leg was injured, infection set in and he lost his leg above the knee. After his discharge, he worked in pulp wood and fishing. He ended up working in Shingwauk School as a maintenance worker where he met his wife Charlotte Cada before moving to Silver Water, ON. Joffery has been a member of Western Manitoulin Legion Branch 514. PENNELL, Melvin G. “Mel” Mel was born on July 15, 1932 in Sudbury, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army and served with the Royal Canadian Regiment from January 5, 1952 to January 6, 1955 seeing action in Korea. He served as a reservist with the 58th Field Regiment and the 2nd Battalion Irish Regiment of Canada retiring with the rank of Master Warrant Officer. Throughout his lifetime Mel was actively involved in the Legion serving on the Executive of Branch, Zone and District. He was awarded Life Membership in Dr Fred Starr Legion Branch 76. He was involved as Sergeant at Arms with the Korea Veterans Association. Mel passed away on August 1, 2012.
