295 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND OLIVER, Douglas Douglas was born on May 4, 1916 in Stephen, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army and served with the Perth Regiment in England, Italy and Holland during World War II. He was a member of St Marys Legion Branch 236. Douglas passed away on January 13, 1996. PANGMAN, Gordon Oliver Gordon was born in Hamiota, MB on October 2, 1903. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on December 20, 1949 and served with the Medical Corps, becoming an x-ray technician. Gordon was posted to numerous Royal Canadian Air Force Stations in Canada and served primarily in hospitals at stations housing flying training schools. While stationed in Ontario at Port Albert Air Navigation School hospital, he met and married Marion B. Webster. He achieved the rank of Sergeant and was discharged on October 1, 1945. After returning to Ontario, Gordon became a Veterans Land Act Housing Inspector and the Reeve of Wyoming, ON. He and his wife raised three children. Oliver was a Past President and Life Member of Wyoming Legion Branch 388 for 37 years. Gordon passed away on December 23, 1985. OLIVER, Maurice A. Maurice was born in Winnipeg, MB on November 8, 1930. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in November 1951 and spent eight weeks at Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC for basic training. His first and only posting was to Clinton, ON to the photo section. An important task of the photo section was to tell the individual life stories of airmen learning the workings of radar. Maurice took many photographs of the young airmen for publications that showcased the various stages of their training and education. After a few short years he left the Air Force to help care for his ailing father in Winnipeg, MB.
