293 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND NORDAHL, Barney Barney was born in Bergen, Norway on September 18, 1910. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on April 11, 1942. He served in the Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery in England and France during World War II and was part of the second wave that landed in Normandy on D-Day. Gunner Nordahl was discharged in November 1945 and was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, the Good Conduct Badge, the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star and the Defense Medal. He married a British girl and brought her back to Canada after the war. He was a member of Kapuskasing Legion Branch 85 for 30 years. Barney passed away on October 10, 1979. OBLINSKI, Nicholas Nicholas was born on December 11, 1914 in Ottawa, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on January 11, 1944 and served in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe where he convoyed vehicles to the front lines. After his discharge on July 31, 1946, he worked as a truck driver for 34 years. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. He was a member of Thorold Legion Branch 17 for 5 years. Nicholas passed away on February 8, 2000. O’HAGAN, Midford Nicholas Midford was born on October 18, 1920 in Riversdale, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on October 13, 1942 and served with the Kent Regiment in England during World War II. He was discharged on May 1, 1946 and returned to Canada. He was an active member of Walkerton Legion Branch 102 for 22 years. Midford passed away on February 23, 1972.
