287 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MURRAY, Daniel Daniel was born in Belfast, Ireland on May 15, 1890. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on April 10, 1916 and served with the Canadian Expeditionary Force in France during World War I. He married an English bride and came back to Saskatchewan where he took freight back and forth from Railhead. His wife left and moved back to England and Daniel moved to Montreal, QC where a lot of Irish from his regiment worked. Daniel never picked up French before his death. MURTHA, James J. James was born on October 22, 1884 in Lindsay, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army and served with the 31st Battalion, 6th Infantry Brigade, 2nd Canadian Division in England and France during World War I. James was killed in action in September 1916 at the Battle of FlersCourcelette in the Regina Trench on the Somme and is buried at the Regina Trench Cemetery in Somme, France. MURTHA, James F. James was born in Victoria County, ON in 1917. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army and served as a gunner with the 12th Field Regiment in support of the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division in England and France during World War II. Their Regiment landed on D-day. He was killed in action in 1944 and is buried at Bretteville-sur-Laize Canadian War Cemetery in France.
