283 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MOORE, Arnold W. Arnold was born on June 27, 1909 in Sturgeon Falls, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on May 15, 1941 and served with the Royal Canadian Engineers as a sapper in England, France, Holland, Belgium and Germany during World War II. He was discharged on September 26, 1945 and returned to mining becoming shift supervisor. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, 1939-45 War Medal and the Defence Medal. He was a member of Thunder Bay Legion Branch 5 for 10 years and Wawa Legion Branch 429 for 30 years. Arnold passed away on December 9, 1989. MORELAND, William A. William was born on October 2, 1919 in Toronto, ON. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941. Corporal Moreland studied meteorology and applied this knowledge when he was stationed in Suffield, AB and St. John’s, NL. He married Eunice Connelly in 1943 and lived in Woodstock, ON before moving to the Ottawa area. He was a member of Woodstock Legion Branch 55 for 50 years. William passed away on November 7, 2009. MOORE, George R. A. George was born in Otter Lake, QC on October 7, 1915. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on October 7, 1943 and served with the Royal Canadian Engineers during World War II. He was discharged on November 30, 1947 and was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the 1939-45 Star. He was a member of Wawa Legion Branch 429 for 42 years. George passed away on November 29, 2001.
