281 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MITCHELL, Nicholas D. Nicholas was born in Detroit, Michigan, United States on September 13, 1924. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy in April 1942 and served on HMCS Springhill as an Electrical Artificer in the North Atlantic during World War II. Prior to this, he was sent to the Navy to work at Babcock and Wilcox in war production in Galt, ON. He was a Chief Petty Officer and electrical artificer and had the critical job of maintaining and servicing the ship’s electrical systems. He served during the Battle of the Gulf of St. Lawrence and on the North Atlantic convoy runs. In April 1945, the ship headed for a tropicalization refit at Pictou, NS where she was when the war ended. Nicholas has been a member of Fred Gies Legion Branch 50 for 15 years. MOLSON, Robert B. Robert was born on September 8, 1938 in Chatham, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on October 14, 1958 and served with Squadrons No. 425 and 426. After his discharge in October 1963, he worked in electronics, mortgages and real estate. He married and had three children. He has been a member of Sarnia Legion Branch 62 for 9 years. MOLSON (ROBERTSON), Joan E. Joan was born in Halifax, NS on January 26, 1938. She enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on April 4, 1957. She served as Headquarters’ clerk accounting. Following her discharge on July 17, 1960, she returned to Sarnia, married and had three children. Joan has been a member of Sarnia Legion Branch 62 for 9 years.
