275 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MICHAELIS, Joseph Allen Allen was born on December 26, 1922 in Newton Robinson, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army in 1942 and served with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals 5th Artillery Division and 5th Light Anti-Aircraft Division. He saw action in England, Sicily, Italy, Holland, and Germany during World War II. After demobilisation in 1946, he returned to Canada where he trained as a steamfitter and worked in that trade most of his working life. He was married and had two children. Allen lived in Barrie, ON until he passed away on November 20, 2000. MIKLOS, Una M. Una was born on January 21, 1922 in New Liskeard, ON. She enlisted in the Women’s Royal Canadian Navy Service on June 30, 1944 and was posted to the Base Library at HMCS Shelburne, NS and remained in Canada for the duration of the war. She was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the 1939-45 War Medal. After her discharge, Una returned to Blenheim and raised a family. MIDDLETON, Marvin E. Marvin was born on September 24, 1923 in Windsor, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on October 27, 1942 and trained in Dundurn, SK. He crossed the Atlantic Ocean on the Queen Elizabeth and arrived in Scotland. From there, he traveled to Brighton, England. His regiment disbanded and Marvin was sent to the 17th Duke of York’s Royal Canadian Hussar. Marvin was part of the landings on D-Day and went from Normandy right into Germany where he was wounded when a bomb went off next to the house where they were visiting. Following his discharge on February 9, 1946, he went back to printing. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defense Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, and the 1939-45 War Medal. He was a member of Lieutenant Colonel W. Ivan Nurse Legion Branch 628 for 42 years. Marvin passed away on June 22, 2012.
