271 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND McRORIE, Harold “Jim” Jim was born on May 17, 1913 in Chesley, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army in February 1940 and served in the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps in the 33 Troop Company in Europe during World War II. Mechanical Staff Sergeant McRorie was discharged in January 1945. He was a member of Chesley Legion Branch 144. Jim passed away on December 20, 2000. MENARD, George George was born on December 4, 1929 in Strickland, ON. He joined the Royal Canadian Army in 1955 and served with the Algonquin Regiment, A Company. He obtained the rank of Junior Non-Commissioned Officer in 1957 and Senior Non-Commissioned Officer in 1958. He was discharged in 1963. George has been a member of Kapuskasing Legion Branch 85 for 22 years and attended its 50th anniversary ceremony in Winnipeg, MB where he led the legion’s colour party. McRORIE, Peter Peter was born on August 25, 1916 in Chesley, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army in September 1939 and served with the Perth Regiment of the 5th Armoured Division in Britain and Italy. Sergeant McRorie was killed in action on May 26, 1944 in Italy when he stepped on a mine.
