257 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND McCAULEY, Randall K. Randall was born on March 7, 1968 in St Marys, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on January 17, 1989. He bravely served as a weapons technician with the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in Bosnia, Afghanistan, Ethiopia and Kosovo. Randall was discharged on June 12, 2014. McCLENAGHAN, Joseph William Joseph was born in Belfast, Ireland on April 1, 1888 and lost his parents at the age of 3. In 1904, Joseph came to Canada as a “Home Boy” and settled in the Ottawa Valley to farm before moving to Cache Bay in 1912 to work in a lumber mill. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on May 4, 1915 and served with the 76th Battalion as a physical and bayonet fighting instructor; he was also a bombing and rifle instructor in Niagara on Lake, Barrie and Montreal. Sergeant McClenaghan was sent to England in February 1915 where he served with the 36th Reserve Battalion. He also served in France with the 7th Brigade. He was wounded in action and was missing for six months during his service for which he was sent to a hospital in Belgium as his insteps were broken, his body was badly crushed and he had a concussion. He returned to England on January 8, 1919 and married on April 30 before returning to Canada on September 18 of the same year. He was a member of Sturgeon Falls Legion Branch 225. Joseph passed away on February 24, 1953 in Toronto, ON. McCLENAGHAN, John Harrison John was born on February 18, 1923 in Cache Bay, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army in 1942 and served with the 100th Canadian Armoured Battalion, Tank Corps, and Wireless Wing. He was sent to Portage La Prairie, MB in December 1942; Camp Borden, ON in February 1943; and London, England, in 1943. His knee was damaged in an exercise trip to France resulting in an operation to remove cartilage. He served in England for balance of war in the Royal Canadian Service Corps before returning to Canada in February 1946. His Irish bride arrived May 31, 1946. John died on June 16, 1946 when he drowned while fishing from a canoe during his honeymoon.
