He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army and served with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps and the 48th Highlanders in England and Europe during World War II. Brock passed away on November 7, 1995. His name is on the World War II Veteran’s Memorial at George’s Square in Oakville, ON. McARTHUR, Lauchlan Lauchlan was born in Campbeltown, Scotland on Arpil 15, 1905. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army in 1940. Sergeant McArthur was discharged in 1946. He was Mayor of Oakville, ON from 1954 to 1955. Prior to his acclamation as Mayor in 1954, he served on the town council for six years, four as a councillor, one as Deputy-Reeve and one as Reeve. He was past president of General Chris Vokes Bronte Legion Branch 486. Lauchlan passed away on September 11, 1984 at the Lockhart Hospital, Lanark, Scotland. McARTHUR, James M. James was born on December 27, 1911 in Oakville, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army and served with the Toronto Scottish Regiment in England during World War II. Private McArthur was with the first Contingent of Canadian soldiers to arrive in England. He attained the rank of Company Quarter Master Sergeant before year’s end in 1939. James passed away on October 4, 1980 at the National Defence Medical Centre, Ottawa, ON. His name is on the World War II Veterans’ Memorial at George’s Square in Oakville, ON.
