251 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MCARTHUR, David John David was born on April 16, 1929 in Oakville, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on June 11, 1946 and served as Pipe Corporal in Lorne Scot’s Peel Dufferin and Halton Regiment, and the Oakville Legion pipe and drum Band. After his time in the Army, he owned and operated McArthur Parcel Delivery and Janeway-McArthur, Diving Contractors in Oakville, ON. He enjoyed a long career as a commercial underwater diver in Lake Erie for various companies. David obtained his fresh water boat licence and operated tugs for various companies for a few years and later owned and operated Simcoe Small Engine Repair in Simcoe, ON. He married Barbara Anderson Daniel in 1958 and had three children. He was a member of Simcoe Legion Branch 79 for 54 years. David passed away on October 12, 2007. McARTHUR, Duncan Duncan was born on May 10, 1916 in Oakville, ON. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the Canadian Guards as Colour Sergeant. He also worked for the Hamilton Board of Education. Duncan passed away on January 23, 1983. His name is on the World War II Veteran’s Memorial at George’s Square, Oakville, ON. McARTHUR, Duncan Duncan was born on October 2, 1888 in Campbeltown, Scotland and immigrated to Canada in 1911 and lived in Oakville, ON. He married Jeannie Robertson McMillan in 1912.He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on August 31, 1915 and served with the 92nd Highlanders and the Black Watch in France and Belgium during World War I. He was discharged in 1919. Duncan passed away on May 27, 1944 and his name is engraved on the War Memorial for World War I Veterans at George’s Square, Oakville, ON.
