241 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MacKIE, Bill Bill was born in Aberdeen, Scotland on December 21, 1956. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army in September 1972 and served with the 29 Field Squadron Royal Engineers in Germany and Northern Ireland. Bill has been a member of Todmorden Legion Branch 10 for 34 years. MacMILLAN (ROBERTSON), Robert G. Robert was born on September 20, 1937 in Winchester, ON. His father Robert Thomas Robertson served during World War I. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in April 1956 in North Bay, ON under the name MacMillan. He completed recruit training in St. Jean, QC and his trades training as an air frame technician at Camp Borden, ON. His postings include No. 6 Repair Depot in Trenton, ON and Winnipeg, MB. In 1959, while in Winnipeg, he reclassified as photo technician and was eventually posted in the Royal Canadian Air Force Photo Establishment in Rockcliffe, Ottawa in 1960. Just prior to going to Ottawa, Robert had the pleasure of taking part in honour guard events for Governor General George Vanier. He was discharged in April 1961 at the rank of Leading Aircraftsman. In 1967, he legally changed his name back to Robertson. Robert has been a member of Sir Arthur Currie Legion Branch 116 for 5 years. MacMILLAN, Richard A. Richard was born on October 9, 1945 in Windsor, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy on April 28, 1963. After his recruit training at CFRS Cornwallis, he was posted to CFB Shearwater, NS becoming an air boatswain with qualifications as a firefighter, air traffic controller, aircraft handler and safety system technician. He was serving on the aircraft carrier HMCS Bonaventure, when they transported the first army troops to Cyprus. In 1966, Richard reclassified to physical education and recreation instructor and served at CFB Shearwater; CFB Kingston; Yorkton, Saskatchewan; Shilo, Manitoba; CFS Alert; CFB Halifax (HMCS Protecteur) and CFB Toronto. His medals include the Special Service Medal (Alert) and the Canadian Forces Decoration with Clasp. He was discharged on May 1, 1989 as a Petty Officer 2nd Class after serving for 26 years. Richard has been a member of Sir Arthur Currie Legion Branch 116 for 2 years.
