She enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on January 7, 1969 and served with the 49th Field Regiment Land Reserve. Following her discharge on May 13, 1970, she worked as a QM Stores Secretary and was a teacher’s assistant for 18 years. Shirley has been a member of Bruce Mines Legion Branch 211 for 10 years. MAAS, Robert C. Robert was born on November 15, 1925 in Toronto, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy on July 20, 1944 and served on HMCS York, Avalon, Niobe, Shelburne, Scotian and Peregrine during World War II. He was discharged on February 7, 1946 and went on to work as a refrigeration technician. He was awarded the War Service Badge, General Service Class. Robert has been a member of Port Elgin Legion Branch 340 for 65 years. LYONS, Arthur Laverne Laverne was born on May 30, 1926 in Harkaway, ON. He was an auto mechanic before enlisting in the Royal Canadian Air Force in September 1955 and served in Germany and Egypt. He was discharged in February 1977 at which point he worked as a vehicular mechanic at the Toronto Airport until his retirement. Laverne has been a member of FleshertonMarkdale Legion Branch 333 for 38 years.
