221 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND LAUT, Alan Alan was born on July 27, 1916 in Ontario. He joined the Royal Canadian Arm in July 1940 and served with the Algonquin Regiment in France, Germany, and Holland. He was a prisoner of war and was held in Stalag 13C for seven months. He was discharged in July 1945. Alan passed away on July 27, 2008. LAUZON, Joseph M. Joseph was born on September 21, 1922 in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on October 14, 1943 and served with the Queen’s Own Rifles Scout and Sniper Platoon in England, France, Netherlands and Belgium. He was wounded by a 9mm bullet to his right leg and was hospitalized in Belgium. After spending several months in England convalescing, he returned home and was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He was discharged on April 27, 1946. After his discharge, he returned to work at the Algoma Steel Plant. In May 1947, he married Lena Massovich and they had six children. Joseph has been a member of Sault Ste. Marie Legion Branch 25 for 69 years. LAUT, William G. William was born on April 15, 1921 in Ontario. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in June 1941 and served with the Bomber Command No. 425 Squadron in England. His Squadron’s task was night bombing to protect the North Sea. William was killed in Action on November 16, 1942 in Essex, England when his aircraft was shot down by friendly fire.
