207 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND JONES, Kenneth G. Kenneth was born on October 15, 1925 in New Glasgow, NS. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in February 1944 and served in the High Seas during World War II. Kenneth was discharged on September 29, 1945. KEHN, Fred W. Fred was born on November 11, 1893 in Guelph, ON. He joined the Royal Canadian Army on April 3, 1916 and served with the 118th Battalion, embarking for Britain on January 22, 1917. On February 6, 1917 its personnel was absorbed by the 25th Reserve Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force to provide reinforcements to the Canadian Corps in the field and Fred ended up working in one of the many Railway Battalions. He built and maintained the railway lines which supplied the army right up to the front lines. Fred’s medals are displayed at Fred Gies Legion Branch 50 of which he was a member. JONES, Lorne S. Lorne was born on February 24, 1926 in Pilot Mound, MB. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army in July 1944 and served with the Perth Regiment of the Royal Canadian Infantry Corps during World War II in England, Belgium and Holland until his discharge in 1946. He enlisted again and served with the Canadian Army Special Forces in Korea from 1950-52. He was transferred to the Royal Canadian Signal Corps and served in UN Peacekeeping Forces in Belgium, the Congo and Cyprus. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, the 1939-45 War Medal, the Korea Medal, the UN Service Korea Medal, the Canadian Forces Decoration with Clasp, the Special Service Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. Lorne has been a Life Member of Sir Arthur Currie Legion Branch 116 and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal and the Palm Leaf.
