205 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND JOHNSTON, Joshua A. Joshua was born on February 24, 1985 in Lindsay, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on September 5, 2007 and served with the 1st Royal Canadian Regiment in Afghanistan. He was awarded the Canadian General Campaign Star. Joshua is still on active duty and plans to remain in the Canadian Armed Service until retirement. JONES, Clifford S. Clifford was born on October 30, 1902 in Rodney, ON. He joined the Royal Canadian Army in 1942 and served with the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers as a vehicle mechanic during World War II. He was eventually posted to the Advance Driver and Mechanic School in Woodstock, ON. It was here that he spent the next four years progressing through the ranks becoming a Staff Sergeant Instructor training vehicle mechanics. This was an important role as a great mechanic who could fix anything was a huge benefit to the soldiers. He was discharged in 1946 and was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the 1939-45 War Medal. He was a member of Sir Arthur Currie Legion Branch 116. Clifford passed away on January 23, 1987. JOHNSTON, Maurice H. V. Maurice was born on July 3, 1922 in Lindsay, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on February 15, 1942 and served with the Canadian Intelligence Corps in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe during World War II. In June 1942, he went overseas on the Empress of Scotland. After his discharge on December 11, 1945, he went back to the job he loved to do and was a printer for 38 years, 33 years of which were with the Oshawa Times. He was awarded the France and Germany Star, the Defense Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and the 1939-45 War Medal. He was a member of Sir Sam Hughes Legion Branch 67 for 4 years. Maurice passed away on March 18, 2014.
