203 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND JOHNSTON, Chester Elwin Chester was born in Montreal, QC on February 2, 1917. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on September 19, 1939 and served as a radio and wireless operator with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals in England, Holland, Italy, and Sicily during World War II. After his discharge on October 13, 1945, he worked for Remington Rand as the Eastern Ontario manager, living in Kingston, ON. He was a Life Member of Kingston Legion Branch 9. Chester passed away on April 18, 1980. JOHNSTON, Jordan W. “Wray” Wray was born on May 21, 1926 in Lindsay, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on September 23, 1941, four days after his 15th birthday, and served with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals in the United Kingdom and Italy during World War II. He was wounded in December 1944 near the Senio River in Italy and was entitled to wear one wound stripe. Following his discharge on April 26, 1945, he married Olive Bradimore and raised ten children. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and the War Medal 1939-45. He was a member of Sir Sam Hughes Legion Branch 67 for 3 years. Wray passed away in October 2004. JOHNSTON, Glen A. Glen was born on April 9, 1951 in Beaverton, ON. He joined the Royal Canadian Army after graduating from High School in 1969. He received his basic training in Cornwallis, NS and was posted to CFB Cold Lake, AB before being posted to CFB Victoria, BC and CFB North Bay, ON. In 1975, He went on a peacekeeping mission in Egypt for six months. He was then sent to CFB Halifax, NS (1977-79) and then to CFB Bordon, ON where he was an instructor (1979-86). His last posting was in London, ON with the 1st Battalion of the Royal Canadian Regiment (1986-93). Due to medical reasons, he was discharged at the rank of Petty Officer II and Sergeant in 1994. He was awarded the Special Service Medal, the Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the Canadian Forces Decoration. He was a member of Huntsville Legion Branch 232 for 16 years. Glen passed away on June 18, 2009.
