201 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND JENKINS, Thomas G. Thomas was born in Happy Valley, NL on May 20, 1955. He joined the Royal Canadian Army in July 1972 and served in the signals intelligence field as a communicator research operator and a Signals Officer. He served at Canadian Forces Station (CFS) Inuvik, CFS Gander, CFS Masset, CFSRSHQ Det Augsburg, Germany, Canadian Forces School of Communications and Electronics in Kingston, ON, the Maritime Atlantic Headquarters in Halifax, NS and CFS Leitrim near Ottawa, ON. His deployments included five tours of Canadian Forces Station Alert, one tour to Camp Butmir in Sarajevo, Bosnia and one tour at Camp Mirage, the Canadian support base for operations in Afghanistan. He was discharged in August 2009. Thomas has been a member of St Mary’s Legion Branch 236 for 5 years. JOHNSTON, Alfred H. Alfred was born on June 27, 1905 in Peterborough, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on June 24, 1940 and served with the 12th Field Regiment in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe during World War II. While overseas, he was billeted with a three generation Dutch family in Nijmegen. Following his discharge in October 1945, he resumed working at Goodyear Tire. Alfred was a member of Marmora Legion Branch 237 for 25 years before he passed away on February 6, 1973. JOHNSON, Charles Robert Charles was born in Kentville, NS on June 16, 1947. He joined the militia at the age of 16 and served with the 6th Signal Corps, Halifax, West Nova Scotia Regiment in Kentville, NS. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on August 20, 1965 and served as a Radar Technician, following basic training at St Jean, QC he served on the Pinetree Line. He received his trades training in Clinton. He served in Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Iceland and the United States and was discharged on June 16, 2007. He was awarded the Queen’s Jubilee Medal, the Peacekeeper’s Medal and the NATO Medal with Peace Bar. Charles has been a member of Trenton Legion Branch 110 for twelve years.
