323 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND WHALEN, David J. David was born on September 2, 1952 in New Liskeard, Ontario. He enlisted in the Intelligence Corps of the Royal Canadian Army on March 9, 1973 and was a Peacekeeper and Reservist. He served in Canada, Germany, Poland, Egypt and Bosnia until his discharge on August 24, 1997. He has been a member of the Hollowood Legion Branch 425 for thirteen years. WHITEHEAD, John Henry John was born in Gravenhurst, Ontario on January 31, 1919. He joined the Army on August 5, 1942 and served with the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry in Canada, England, Holland, Belgium and Germany. He was discharged on January 14, 1946. He returned to Gravenhurst where he continued to work at the Rubberset for 42 years. John volunteered for Meals on Wheels and was a long time member of Trinity United Church in Gravenhurst and had served as a board member. He was also a member of Harry Wray Legion Branch 302 for fifty-four years before he died on April 5, 1999. WHITE, William J. William was born on February 14, 1920 in Ballymovey, Northern Ireland. He enlisted in the Canadian Army on May 20, 1943 and served as a Corporal in Canada, United Kingdom and Continental Europe. Before being dispatched to active duty in Europe, he trained troops at Camp Borden. William was discharged on September 23, 1946. William was a member of the Simcoe legion branch 79 before he passed away on August 1, 2007.
