303 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND THOMAS, Richard J. “Rick” Rick was born on June 15, 1953 in Toronto, Ontario. He enlisted into the Army in 1970 as a medic and served in Esquimalt, Ottawa and Germany with 4 Combat Medical Support Unit in Lahr as part of NATO and Canada’s cold war commitments. He returned to Petawawa and 427 Tactical Helicopter Squadron, specializing in aero-medical evacuations. Rick left the service in 1982, after less than 12 years and having earned a Special Service Medal with NATO bar. Rick is currently a member of Huntsville Legion Branch 232 and has been a member for thirty-five years. TIMMS, Eric Eric was born in Manchester, United Kingdom on June 24, 1924. Eric joined the Navy in December 1942 and served on HMS Onslow in the North Atlantic and North Russia during World War II. He was discharged in April 1946. Eric has been a member of Port Perry Legion Branch 419 for four years. THOMPSON, Gordon Allen Gordon was born in Toronto, Ontario on November 28, 1923. He joined the Royal Canadian Army on November 18, 1942 and served in Canada, England and Northwest Europe until he was discharged on May 14, 1945. He suffered a war injury, the amputation of his left leg below the knee. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and the War Medal 1939-45. Gordon was a member of Colonel J.E.L. Streight Legion Branch 210 before he passed away on June 28, 1988.
