287 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND SIROIS, Léonide J. Léonide was born on July 11, 1919 in Sainte Anne, New Brunswick. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1939 and served as a Gunner in England, Germany and France during World War II. He was discharged on October 2, 1945. After the war Léonide was a carpenter by trade and he passed away on February 8, 1986. SLOAN, Walter G. Walter was born in Lachine, Quebec on May 23, 1925. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy on May 24, 1943 and served on the Corvette HMCS Barrie in the Atlantic during WWII. He later completed his machinist trade, became a salesman selling large machinery then formed his own company. Walter has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for eight years. SIROIS, Normand J. “Norm” Norm was born on April 16, 1948 in Chatham, New Brunswick. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on February 1, 1967 and served as a Radar systems technician at Bagotville Canadian Forces Base. Norm wanted to be a pilot but was colour blind so he became a technician. He was also a member of the Lancaster crew at the Windsor Airport, a hobby he loved. He was a very good woodworker and could build and fix anything. Norm was discharged on February 26, 1969 and he was a member of Captain Brien Legion Branch 201 for three years before he died on August 2, 2009.
