269 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND PYETTE, Edward L. Edward was born on September 11, 1924 in Point Edward, Ontario. He joined the East Coast Canada Defence in May 1943 and served in Canada until he was discharged in April 1946. Edward has been a member at Goderich Legion Branch 109 for thirty-eight years. RADMORE, James M. James was born on July 24, 1877 in Plymouth, Devon, England. He enlisted to the Army on February 26, 1916 and served with the 126th Overseas Battalion during World War I. James returned from the war with Tuberculosis, so was unable to continue working as a mechanic. He had gone overseas because he felt he had to help protect his parents, brothers and sisters still living in England. James passed away on October 24, 1935. QUINN, Lloyd Andrew Lloyd was born on July 29, 1923 in Kincardine, Ontario. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on November 19, 1942 and served in the 419 Repair and Salvage Unit in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. His job was to transport downed aircraft back to their bases with a mobile crane for repairs or to be used for parts. Between June 1944 and the end of the war, his unit retrieved hundreds of planes. In addition to planes that would crash land, Lloyd’s unit would also retrieve the aircraft left behind as the allied troops advanced. He was discharged on May 1, 1946 after which he owned a farm in Kincardine and became an electrician in the area. Lloyd was a member of Kincardine Legion Branch 183 for more than fifty years before he passed away on April 7, 2011.
