255 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND PETTIT (FELLOWES), Joan C. Joan was born in Beamsville, Ontario on June 20, 1920. She joined the Army on April 24, 1942 and served as a Lieutenant with the Canadian Women’s Army Corps in Canada, England and Belgium. Joan was discharged in April 1946 and was awarded the Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. She also received the Efficiency Trophy from Colonel A. T. Howard. Joan has been a member of Mount Dennis Legion Branch 31 for twenty-six years. PHILLIPS, Duncan B. Duncan was born on October 27, 1962 in West Germany. He joined the Army on June 15, 1983 as a Peacekeeper and served in West Germany, Cyprus, Croatia and Bosnia with 1PPCLI, 2PPCLI, 2 EW Squadron, 2 HQ and Sig Squadron. He was discharged on April 12, 2011. Duncan was awarded the Special Service Medal, the Canadian Forces Decoration, the Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal, and the NATO medals for the Former Yugoslavia Non Article 5 and for Cyprus and Croatia. Duncan has been a member of Manotick Legion Branch 314 for three years. PHAIR, Jack M. Jack was born on April 25, 1922 in Dresden. He enlisted in Windsor on September 4, 1942, trained as an L.A.A. Gunner and served in England and Continental Europe. He married Geraldine in 1943, was promoted to A/Cpl. on May 16, 1944 and wounded in France by a gunshot to the elbow resulting in a fracture. He was awarded the Good Conduct Badge, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, the Volunteer Badge, the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star as well as the Defence Medal. Discharged on October 26, 1945, he started farming in Moore Township and also worked at McKay Construction followed by Lambton Generating Station. He retired with Geraldine to Brigden after suffering a stroke in 1975. Jack and his wife have one daughter and he passed away on August 15, 1983.
