247 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND PAQUETTE, Germaine J. Germaine was born in Chapleau, Ontario on July 2, 1925. He joined the Navy on February 11, 1944 and served as a radar technician on HMCS Lachine on the high seas until October 26, 1945 after which he joined CP Rail on January 19, 1946. Germaine was a member of Harry Searle Legion Branch 5 for sixty-two years until he passed away on October 14, 2007. PAXTON, Christopher D. Christopher was born on February 24, 1973 in Newmarket, Ontario. He graduated from Cornwallis, Nova Scotia on May 29, 1991 then was posted to 1 Service Battalion, CFB Edmonton in Alberta. He was Master Corporal when he was deployed for peacekeeping in Bosnia and received the IFOR Medal while stationed there. Christopher was discharged from the DND on October 29, 1997 and received his Veteran Status in January 2013. His grandparents served in the British Forces and his sister is serving in the DND Navy. PARKER, Donald L. Donald was born on October 14, 1924 in Chatham, Ontario. He enlisted in the Navy in February 1942 and served on HMCS Gilford and HMCS Ottawa on convoy duties in the North Atlantic. On D-Day, Donald was aboard HMCS Ottawa. He was discharged in November 1945. He had worked as a commercial fisherman for a while prior to working on board the coal carrier S.S. Alexander Leslie, on which he served before and after the war. After this, he went to work for Bermington Construction as a hoist engineer. He married Mildred Punnett and they had five children. Donald was a member of Corporal Harry Miner V.C. Legion Branch 185 for more than fifty years before he passed away on June 13, 2011.
