239 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND NIGANIWINA, Albert Albert was born in Sheshegwaning, Ontario in 1898. He served in World War I as a Private with Battalion 227 of the Royal Canadian Army and in Sudbury during World War II with the Veterans Guard of Canada. Albert was married to Angeline Endanawas and had 6 children. He passed away on December 31, 1947 in a house fire at the age of 49; all his medals were burned in the fire. He was unable to work due to a heart problem. There is a Veteran stone at Sheshegwaning where Albert is buried in the Roman Catholic Cemetery. NOLK, Edwin R. Edwin was born in Toronto, Ontario on December 19, 1941. He served as a Peacekeeper in the Royal Canadian Engineers from 1960 to 1996. Edwin served in Germany for six years, Cambodia for one year, and in Chilliwack, British Columbia and Petawawa, Ontario. In his 35 years of service, Edwin cleared mines in Cambodia with the Cambodian Mines Action Centre (CMAC) and did two tours in Germany lasting three years each. He started the first Combat Divers in the Engineers and was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration with two Bars, the Special Service Medal with two Bars and the Peacekeeping Service Medal. Edwin has been a member of Lion’s Head Legion Branch 202 for nineteen years. NIGANIWINA, Henry Henry was born in Sheshegwaning, Ontario. He joined the Army during World War I and served in Sudbury with the 227th Battalion of the Royal Canadian Army.
