227 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MONTAGUE, Andrew “Andy” Andy was born in Dumbarton, Scotland on December 23, 1956. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on November 18, 1976 and served in Canada, Europe, Africa and the Middle East with 8 Wing. Andy was an aircraft mechanic stationed at CFB Ottawa, Baden-Soellingen, Cold Lake and Trenton. He also served on: a number of humanitarian missions outside of Canada; completed a six-month tour of duty with the Multi-National Force in the Sinai; four months in Rwanda and Kenya during the Rwandan Civil War; two months in Zaïre, now the Congo; Uganda during the mass exodus of civilians fleeing from war; flew humanitarian aid into Kosovo and Croatia; and resupplied operations to Greenland. Andy was discharged on April 15, 1997 and was decorated six times, including the Canadian Forces Decoration. Very active with military sports including hockey, softball and soccer, Andy was an auxiliary officer with the Ontario Provincial Police and was involved with numerous community services organizations. He coached minor sports within the community and has been a member of A. C. McCallum Memorial Legion Branch 479 for fourteen years. MORELAND, John Isaac John was born on December 21, 1924 in Toronto, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army’s Service Corps in 1942 and served throughout Europe and Germany in the trucks and motorcycles division. After the war, he worked for Brewers Retail for many years and has been a part of Woodstock Legion Branch 55 for a number of years. MOON (SETTERINGTON), Mary Louise “Lou” Mary Lou was born on January 27, 1937 in Chatham, Ontario. After seeing an advertisement for the Royal Canadian Air Force, she decided to enlist. The Korean War had finally ended and just after she had turned 18 in 1955, she joined Basic Training in St. Jean, Quebec in February. After training for twelve weeks, she was transferred to Station Clinton, Ontario for training as a Teletype Operator. After receiving her diploma, she transferred to Station Centralia, Ontario where she served for two years before remustering to train as a Clerk Typist. She also served in Aylmer, Ontario and was eventually transferred to St. Jean, Quebec where she mustered out in December 1957. She has been a member of Chatham Legion Branch 628 for twenty-six years and a member of that branch’s Ladies Auxiliary for eighteen years. A younger brother and sister joined the Air Force in later years and an older brother joined the Navy.
