205 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MCINTOSH, David “Dave” Dave was born in Kenogami, Quebec on September 22, 1923. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943 and served as an Aero Engine mechanic. Dave graduated from the RCAF Training School in St. Thomas, Ontario and took part in the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan, serving in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and in Nova Scotia at Greenwood and Dartmouth. He received his discharge in April 1946. MCINTOSH, Ian M. Ian was born on February 16, 1922 in Kenogami, Quebec. He joined the Air Force on August 6, 1942 during World War II. He completed a bomb armament course in Toronto before being transferred to the Submarine Warfare Command at Torbay, Newfoundland. He was stationed there with North Atlantic Squadron. As Corporal in charge of bomb disposal, he was responsible for fusing depth charges which were placed on the wings of the Canso airplane. Ian’s Squadron was credited with sinking 19 submarines. He was discharged on March 2, 1946. Ian has been a member of Carleton Place Legion Branch 192 for twenty-six years. MCINTOSH, Donald Donald was born on May 7, 1916 in Kenogami, Quebec and was a member of the services from July 1941 to November 1945. He enlisted with the Duke of Connaught’s Hussars before being transferred to the Royal Canadian Artillery. Donald remembers the long voyage at sea, leaving England and arriving in Sicily. He served as a Trooper through the Italian campaign at Monte Cassino, then was stationed in Naples and southern France before being sent to Belgium and Holland. Donald passed away on July 1, 2004.
