203 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MCELMAN, Kathleen I. Kathleen was born on January 2, 1917 in Fredericton, New Brunswick. She enlisted in the Women’s Division of the Royal Canadian Air Force in January 1942 in Moncton, New Brunswick and served three years in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Toronto, Centralia and Ottawa, Ontario. Kathleen participated in a precision marching squad at the No. 9 Service Flying Training School at Centralia and she was discharged in January 1945. She has been married to James O. McElman for 63 years, living principally in Montreal and Ottawa and they raised two children. MCINNIS, Nelson M. “Bud” Bud was born on June 29, 1903 in Montreal, Quebec but moved to Ontario as a small child. He joined the Army on July 19, 1942 and served in the Royal Canadian Artillery in the United Kingdom as well as with E-Troop, the 46th Battery, 9th Lincoln Regiment, until his discharge in January 1946. Bud was awarded the Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. He was a member of Talbot Trail-Fonthill Legion Branch 613 for forty years before he died in 1982. MCFAYDEN, Duncan Frank Frank was born on September 30, 1901 in Bruce County, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on March 18, 1918 with the 21st Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force and served in England and France during WWI. He misrepresented his age at the time of his enlistment by stating his birthday was September 30, 1898. He was in fact only 16 years old. Frank also served with #1 Detachment CMPC before he was discharged on July 31, 1919. Frank was a member of Kincardine Legion Branch 183 before he passed away on October 18, 1985.
