He served with the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve as Able Seaman onboard H.M.S. Huron during World War II. He passed away on April 15, 1992. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on April 16, 1942 in Moncton, NB, and was then sent to Fingal, Ontario and London, Ontario to train. He embarked from Canada on April 8, 1942, and disembarked in the United Kingdom on April 17, 1943. Bill was shot down on June 13, 1944 in a Lancaster Aircraft # DS772, five and half miles east of Cambrai, France at Avesnes Les Aubert, during night operations. against Cambrai, France. In June 1944, he was reported as missing in action, and then in October 1944, he was reported killed in action. Bill’s last Squadron was #408 (For Freedom). He enlisted in the Army and served with the 85th Battalion Nova Scotia Highlanders and No. 2 Construction Battalion in Canada, England and France during World War I. He joined the militia on returning home and for some time was C.O. of the 84th Battery, R.C.A. rank Major. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion in Yarmouth. Samuel passed away in 1938.
