He was killed in action on January 27, 1945 in Castiglione, Italy. DAY, Hugh James Service # 1158315 Born in Old Shop Trinity Bay on January 21, 1923. Served 166th Nfld Field Regiment, Royal Artillery in 1944. Received the Defence Medal and Newfoundland Volunteer Service. Hugh passed away on January 10, 1998. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 12 Grand Falls.
