Enlisted with the Royal (Newfoundland) Naval Reserves on October 21, 1914 at the age of 22; he received a Meritorious Service Medal for his actions in saving the lives of Naval divers following the Halifax explosion of December 6, 1917. He was serving on HMCS Niobe at the time. Passed away in 1982. DAWSON, Augustus Service # 1340 Augustus Dawson served with The Royal Newfoundland Regiment. He is deceased. DAY, John Service # 2157 Born in Old Shop, Trinity Bay on January 8, 1896. Served with The Royal Newfoundland Regiment 1st Battalion from January 1918 to July 22, 1919. Discharged due to wounds. Passed away on January 2, 1984.
