He was a member of the 708 Air Cadet Squadron from 1970 to 1979 as both cadet and officer, being Commissioned to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in 1977. He is a former member of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment, “C” Company, and Newfoundland Penitentiary Service. He joined the RCMP in 1979 and retired in 2014, serving in Manitoba (D Div) Thompson, Roblin, Winnipeg and Newfoundland and Labrador (B Div) Whitbourne, Clarenville and St. John’s x 2. He was also the first Sgt at Arms for the City of St. John’s (2015-2018). He is currently the Vice President of the RCMP Veterans Association for Newfoundland and Labrador. Jim has received the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal, Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, RCMP Long Service Medal with Gold Clasp and Stars, National Defence Medal of France, Bronze Echelon with Clasp Gendarmerie Nationale and the Distinction Award from “B” Division Commanding Officer. CLEARY-ESCOTT, Helen Regimental # C6566 Born in St. John’s on November 4, 1963. Joined the RCMP on April 1, 1998 until August 30, 2015. In 2017, she received the CLB Governor and Commandants Medallion and in 2019 she was awarded the Governor General’s Sovereign’s Medal for volunteers.
