Lest We Forget - Volume 19 www.legionnl.ca 7 Woodrow French, a NL Legion member from Conception Bay South Branch 50, piloted the new Air Passenger Bill of Rights that was recently ordered into effect by the federal government. Woody has been fighting for passenger rights for nearly thirteen years and as a result of his lobbying the airlines will take more responsibility when it comes to things like tarmac delays, denied boardings, damaged and lost baggage and overall communication between passengers and airlines. Coming later are changes to dealing with seating of children under 14 and canceled or delayed flights. Woody believes that when you purchase an airline ticket you are entering a contract with the airline and they are responsible for getting you from point A to point B in a timely manner while treating you with respect, and if they break the contract they should compensate you. The first phase of the new regulations went into effect July 15, 2019, and while Woody agrees there are still details to iron out the bill will evolve over time and he is pleased with the overall changes. Woody is a veteran who has defended Canadian’s rights in the past and continues to defend our rights. Thank you, Woody. Legion Member Fights for Travelers’ Rights
