He served with the Royal Newfoundland Regiment from 1914 to 1919. He served in Gallipoli and on the Western front and was awarded the Military Cross at the Broembeke Battle and the Bar thereto at Ledgehem. He was one of the founding members of Grand Falls Branch # 12 of The Royal Canadian Legion. DECEASED: 1980 HODDER, Walter Service # 2794X Born at Ireland’s Eye in 1895. Enlisted in the Royal Naval Reserve at Deer Harbour on May 7, 1917 and did six months of training on the HMS Briton. He saw action on the HMS Niobe, Stadacona, Seagull, Guelph and again returning to the HMS Niobe in December 1918. He was discharged on April 7, 1919. DECEASED HOWARD, James John Service # 560 He enlisted with the Royal Newfoundland Regiment on October 14, 1914. He was reported missing in action on July 1, 1916. He was awarded the Victory Medal, the British War Medal and the 1914/1915 Star. DECEASED
