He served with the Newfoundland Overseas Forestry Unit from 1940 to 1945. He is presently a member of Windsor Branch #49 of The Royal Canadian Legion. Gilbert Rogers Service #: P/JX194575 Gilbert Rogers was born in Grand Bank, Newfoundland in 1919. He enlisted with the Royal Navy in the fall of 1939 and went overseas in April, 1940. Gilbert served mostly on corvettes up to Russia, the Mediterranean and the invasion of Normandy. Leslie Rogers Leslie Rogers was born in Grand Bank, Newfoundland. He served with the Merchant Navy. He sailed on the Helen Forsey out of Grand Bank. He was killed in action off the coast of Bermuda on September 6, 1942.
