He served with the Royal Newfoundland Regiment from 1914 to 1919. He served in Gallipoli and on the Western front and was awarded the Military Cross at the Broembeke Battle and the Bar thereto at Ledgehem. He was one of the founding members of Grand Falls Branch #12 of The Royal Canadian Legion. He passed away in 1980. Luke Ivany Service #: 3018X Luke Ivany was born in Ivanhoe in 1896. He joined the Royal Naval Reserve in October 1914 and trained on the HMS Briton. Following seaman training he was sent to patrol duty in the North Atlantic. Luke was in Halifax with his ship during the Halifax Explosion and was called for relief duties and cleanup help and assistance. He was discharged in 1919. Harry Edward Long Service #: 4435 Harry Edward Long was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland in 1898. He served with the Newfoundland Regiment from 15th April, 1918 to 29th June, 1919. He passed away on 24th November, 1981.
