A broken leg and a delay in further training, he re-mustered into the Army. He spent the duration of the war at Fortress Saint John. While there he was involved with the reception, transfer, and shipment of various types of equipment. After the war he worked as a distributer for Imperial Oil (Esso), in the North End until he retired in 1985. He then worked for LeRoy’s Heating Services until 2002. Pete died in 2010. Sergent Cyril G. « Pete » Doiron, Armée canadienne : Pete est né à Saint John et s’est enrôlé dans l’ARC en 1939 et a d’abord reçu une formation de mécanicien. Une jambe cassée et un retard dans la formation continue, il s’est réintégré dans l’armée. Il a passé toute la guerre à la forteresse Saint-Jean. Pendant qu’il était là, il s’occupait de la réception, du transfert et de l’expédition de divers types d’équipement. Après la guerre, il a travaillé comme distributeur pour Imperial Oil (Esso), dans le North End jusqu’à sa retraite en 1985. Il a ensuite travaillé pour LeRoy’s Heating Services jusqu’en 2002. Pete est décédé en 2010. DONOVAN, Leo C. “Pat” WWII/Deuxième Guerre mondiale Gunner Leo C. “Pat” Donovan, Canadian Army. Pat served with the artillery at the beginning of the war, including with the 105th Coast Battery in Newfoundland. Pat went overseas with the North Shore Regiment and landed with them on D-Day. He was wounded the next day and was released at the end of the war. After the war Pat continued to serve in the militia artillery retiring as the Regimental Sergeant Major in the mid-1960s. He continued in service as the Commanding Officer of 1691 Army Cadets in the 1970s. He was a founding member and President of the Royal Canadian Artillery Association (The Loyal Company). Pat joined the NB Liquor Commission in 1947 and eventually became store manager at Parkway Mall. Pat died in 1987. Artilleur Leo C. « Pat » Donovan, Armée canadienne. Pat a servi dans l’artillerie au début de la guerre, notamment avec la 105e Coast Battery à Terre-Neuve. Pat est allé outre-mer avec le North Shore Regiment et a débarqué avec eux le jour J. Il a été blessé le lendemain et a été libéré à la fin de la guerre. Après la guerre, Pat a continué à servir dans l’artillerie de la milice et a pris sa retraite en tant que sergent-major de régiment au milieu des années 1960. Il a continué à servir en tant que commandant de 1691 cadets de l’Armée dans les années 1970. Il a été membre fondateur et président de l’Association de l’Artillerie royale canadienne (The Loyal Company). Pat s’est joint à la Commission des alcools du Nouveau-Brunswick en 1947 et est finalement devenu directeur de magasin au Parkway Mall. Pat est décédé en 1987.
