Byers, Canadian Army. Art, nicknamed PeeWee, was a student at Beaconsfield School and before the war he worked as a longshoreman. He enlisted in the army in 1943 and trained at Camp Utopia. He served overseas with the Algonquin Regiment and was reported missing, later confirmed killed-inaction in September 1944. PeeWee is buried in the Adegem Canadian War Cemetery in Oost-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Soldat Arthur L. Byers, Armée canadienne. PeeWee est enterré au cimetière de guerre canadien d’Adegem à Oost-Vlaanderen, en Belgique. CAMERON, George G.W. WWII/Deuxième Guerre mondiale Sergeant George G.W. Cameron, Canadian Army. George graduated from Saint John High in 1926 and soon after left to go to Ottawa. George enlisted with the Cameron Highlanders of Canada in 1940 and then transferred into the 2nd Battalion, Governor General’s Foot Guards. He served in Ottawa until his discharge in 1945. After the war, he worked for the Federal Government as District Treasury Officer for the Department of Supply and Services in Saint John. He retired in 1970. George served as an Alderman of Ward 2 for the City of Lancaster from 1959 to 1967. He also served as the Secretary Treasurer of the Saint John Harbour Bridge Authority. George died in 2000. CAMPBELL, Basil WWI/Première Guerre mondiale Basil was born in 1897 at Birch Ridge, NB. He served in England, France and Canada. He died in 1974.
