Thompson, Canadian Army. Don joined the St. John Fusiliers. In 1941 he was commissioned from the ranks and then went overseas. He landed on D-Day with the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada. Two days later he was wounded and convalesced in England. He returned to his Regiment, serving in Holland. After the war, Don worked with The Royal Canadian Legion as the New Brunswick Provincial Service Officer. In 1949 he and his wife Dorothy moved their family to Ottawa where he served as the Director of the Legion’s Service Bureau. He eventually became Chairman of the Veterans Review and Appeals Board. Following his work there, Don became an advisor to the Deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs. Lieutenant Donald M. Thompson, Armée canadienne. Don a rejoint les St. John Fusiliers. TOBIAS, Daniel WWII/Deuxième Guerre mondiale Private Daniel Tobias served from 1939 to 1945 with the 38th Canadian Armoured Regiment (the British Columbia Regiment). Daniel served in Canada, England, France, Germany, and Holland. He stated that he had three tanks blown out from under him. He married Muriel Gabriel in 1947 and worked at the Dry Dock as sheet metal worker. He was a member of the Jervis Bay Memorial Branch #53 of the Royal Canadian Legion. He died in 1989.
